Oklahoma Panhandle finally getting some drought relief

Those dark clouds to the west in Oklahoma mean rainfall in the Panhandle and areas of western Oklahoma that have suffered through a summer drought. The latest report from Oklahoma Mesonet Climatologist Gary McManus shows more than 2 inches of rainfall in the Panhandle in two consecutive days. Over the past few months, the picture was just the opposite…dry in western Oklahoma and heavy amounts of rainfall in the eastern counties of the state.

DALLAS — Heavy rain could bring a soggy and possibly flooded Halloween weekend to parts of Texas and Oklahoma. A developing low-pressure system east of the Rockies is expected to pull deep moisture north into the Southern Plains.
