The Altavista varsity softball team hit the road this past Wednesday (May 8th) and knocked off local rival Gretna 6-5 in extra innings to sweep the season series between the two schools. Chatham Cavaliers Baseball defeats Appomattox and Dan River. The Chatham Cavaliers hosted the Appomattox Raiders on Wednesday, May 8 in Dogwood District action. It was a tough game for the Cavaliers because Appomattox came to Chatham High School with a vengeance after their loss to the Cavaliers just a few weeks ago. The Cavaliers defeated the Raiders 9-5. Alex Van Pelt went three for four with two doubles and an RBI. Caleb Cassell went two for four with a double and three RBIs. Cody Walden went three for three with three RBIs. Ben Williams, Jaxon Phillippi, and Kennen Lewis all had doubles as well.
