CMPD said at 8:48 p.m. Sunday, April 28, officers were called to the 8800 block of North Tryon Street for the report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

As CMPD officers arrived at the scene, they were notified by emergency staff that a 4-year-old child had been transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. Authorities said the child’s injuries were non-life-threatening.
