MOORESVILLE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — Former President Donald Trump’s legal woes could have an effect on one Charlotte-area property.
The Trump National Golf Course Charlotte, located on Lake Norman near Mooresville, has been listed in the Trump portfolio since the property was purchased in 2012.
The course was also listed among Trump properties that allegedly made false or misleading statements about the status of their financial condition.
According to one filing:
“The Trump Organization utilized the unsold membership, membership deposit, and brand premium schemes on this property. From 2013-2020, the Trump Organization added the value of refundable membership deposits ($4,080,550) to the property’s purchase price. Also, during these years, the Trump Organization added either 30% or 15% (depending on the year) to fixed assets.”

Queen City News spoke with several people in the surrounding upscale neighborhoods about the situation and the potential for a seizure of the assets or sale of the Lake Norman property. Many say they are not shocked by the news, if it happens.
They also noted they do not expect to see much of a change, if it does happen.
“Someone will jump on this in a heartbeat,” said a longtime resident. “It’ll be kept up as well. I don’t think prices will go down because of the economy right now, but I don’t think it’ll change.”
Residents noted the appeal of the lake more than the branding of a nearby attraction as the main reason they moved to the area.
If a seizure of the property were to happen, it would not be immediate, and would require court action.
