Minor earthquake recorded near Pleasant Plains
WHITE COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) - The U.S. Geological Survey recorded a minor earthquake early Friday morning south of the Independence/White County border. The USGS registered the magnitude 1.8 tremor at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 8. It was located about 2.8 miles southeast of Pleasant Plains and 17 miles south of Batesville.

Lyon College’s annual holiday concert and tree-lighting ceremony set for tonight
Lyon College will ring in the season with its annual band and choir holiday concert and tree-lighting ceremony, “A Jolly Good Time,” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, in Sloan Auditorium of the Brown Chapel and Fine Arts Building on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Rd., Batesville. Following the concert, there will be a tree-lighting ceremony outside the chapel. Refreshments will be served. The free event is open to the public.
