CCSO: Body washed ashore on James Island

JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – Authorities are investigating after a body washed ashore Sunday morning on James Island.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) said it received reports that a body was found near the water just off Wampler Drive around 10:30 a.m.

Officials said the body was that of a white male who appeared to be between ages 20 to 30, with no obvious signs of trauma.

CCSO says its Criminal Investigation Division and Forensic Services Unit and the Charleston County Coroner have been notified. The man’s identity has not yet been released.

Officials say as the investigation continues there is no known danger to the community. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700.
