Lost parrot found in Iron Mountain
IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WLUC) - A parrot in Iron Mountain tried to fly south for the winter last weekend. Stanley, an Eclectus Parrot, escaped from his home last Friday. Community members and the Iron Mountain Police and Fire Departments assisted the search for him. On Monday morning, he was found by a Kingsford resident, perched on a tree five houses away.

Morgan Murphy Media has closed on its $13.375 million purchase of six radio stations, two FM translators, and three TV stations from Marks Media Group. “The many TV and radio stations that Steve Marks assembled in Michigan finally passed to the new owners yesterday, Morgan Murphy Media,” said Larry Patrick, who brokered the deal. “Mary Marks, the widow and Executrix of Steve’s estate did a terrific job shepherding a complex sale past the finish line. All the best to Chris Cornelius who added these stations to the MMM portfolio. The stations are in good hands as part of a legacy media company led by Elizabeth Murphy Burns. Juvenile Leads Police on Hourlong Chase in Stolen Construction Forklift
• A 12-year-old boy in Michigan led police on an hourlong chase while driving a stolen construction forklift, hitting 10 parked vehicles in the process. • The forklift, a Construction Genie GTH-636 Telehandler, was stolen from outside Forsyth Middle School and was found to be unlocked with the key inside the cab.
Slow start does in Hornets in Northern Lakes opener
The Elcho Hornets boys basketball team dropped its Northern Lakes Conference opener at Florence by a 57-34 final score on Thursday night. A tough start saw Elcho trailing 32-10 at the halftime break and were unable to recover from there. Eugene Reinke and Nathan Visser led Elcho in scoring with 13 points each. Iron Mountain Artist Featured in International Art Exhibition Returns with new medal, and renewed inspiration
IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – An artist hailing from Iron Mountain recently captivated audiences at the Florence Biennale in Italy. WZMQ first featured the Wondermakers’ art collaboration, and the XIV Florence Biennale back in April when Mindy Meyers, MFA, from Dickinson County, and Jenna Freimuth of Minneapolis were preparing for their first international art exhibition. The showcase featured two of their collaborative works: Glittering textile panels studded with intricate stitching, and adorned with pops of sequins. The two pieces are still in transit home to the U.P. through customs: titled Wondermaker 154 and Wondermaker 155.
