Walmart Opens High-Tech Consolidation Center in Minooka, Illinois Creating 700 New Jobs
MINOOKA, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 30, 2024-- Today, Walmart hosted the grand opening of its newest high-tech consolidation center in Minooka, Illinois. The new 492,000 square-foot facility, located at 201 S. McLinden Road will bring nearly 700 additional jobs to the area. Once implemented, the facility’s automated technology can enable three times more volume to flow throughout the center and help Walmart deliver the right product to the right store, so customers can find the products they need. Irate Customer At Joliet Driver’s Facility Arrested After Attacking Security Guard
On April 25, 2024, at 5:14 p.m., Joliet Officers responded to the Illinois Secretary of State driver’s license facility located at 201 Joyce Road for a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers learned that a 21-year-old Aareon Newell of Coal City was a customer at the building and had grown irate at the employees over a discrepancy with his identification card. It was determined that Newell grew angry and began yelling profanities and threatened physical harm toward employees and a security guard.
Informational Picket At Joliet Hospital
Ascension nurses at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet will be holding an informational picket today (Wednesday, May 1st) between 5 and 8 p.m. It’s been almost one year since contract talks between the Illinois Nurses Association and Ascension began. Nurses have been working without a contract since July of last year. Talks between the two are ongoing but not in person, they are online only. Oncology nurse Kaitlynd French says Ascension is hesitant to give nurses any movement to get the contract done.

The Wilmington Emergency Services and Disaster Agency has been in existence since the 1970s, created through an act of the Illinois General Assembly.
