The city of Chandler celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month each May. It’s a time to honor and recognize the contributions of the AAPI community that help shape the diversity of Chandler.
As part of the celebration, the city’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Division will host the Asian American Community Connection. This is a free networking opportunity to connect with the community and listen, learn and engage in conversations.
This event will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, at the Phoenix Palace Restaurant, 2075 N. Dobson Road, Chandler.
During the Asian American Community Connection, attendees will be able to connect with five organizations. Seating is limited and registration is required and can be done here .
Every attendee must individually register for this event. Priority will be given to those who reside within Chandler city limits.

Also, the Chandler Public Library and Chandler Museum have events and exhibits for the community to learn more about AAPI culture.
Teens (ages 13-17) are invited for an evening of friendship and cultural discovery at the Asian American & Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander Heritage (AANHPI) Celebration, a collaborative effort among multiple clubs at Hamilton High.
This event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 10, at Hamilton Library, 3700 S. Arizona Ave.
Attendees will experience performances, crafts, games and karaoke — all reflecting Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage.
CPL also has recommended reading lists for young and older kids available at chandleraz.gov/AAPI.
The Chandler Museum also has a poster exhibit titled “I Want the Wide Americ
n Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story.”
This set of eight educational posters takes a sweeping look at a little-known chapter in American history, from the very first Asian immigrants to the influx of highly skilled workers many decades later.
The story was created by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service and is on display through Sunday, May 26.
The Chandler Museum is located at 300 S. Chandler Village Drive and has free admission.
It’s open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
