Rod & Gun Club hosts 8th Kids' Fishing Derby
Hundreds of spectators and participants gathered Saturday morning at Gunstock Pond for the Laconia Rod & Gun Club’s eighth Kids’ Fishing Derby. All attendees received raffle and achievement prizes. The event, which is organized in large part by Ron and Lisa Judd, is free to participants thanks to fundraising and sponsorship efforts. All children who registered received T-shirts and raffle tickets and walked away with prizes. Hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and other treats were available at no cost. Lisa said making the event free for families was the most important aspect and a main goal in putting it together, and nobody should leave hungry. Participants in three age categories walked away with prizes including fishing reels and trophies among other items.
Castle in the Clouds to open May 25
MOULTONBOROUGH — Castle in the Clouds will begin its 2024 season on Saturday, May 25. This year, visitors can look forward to several new opportunities onsite. Opening day is also the debut of a new exhibit Lucknow’s Laborers: The People Who Built and Cared for Tom Plant’s Estate. The 2024 season will also offer a brand-new guided tour of the historic 1913-14 Lucknow Mansion. This exclusive experience will be offered once daily to a maximum of 10 guests and is available only through advanced purchase through the Castle website.

Paintings for a Purpose to benefit youth-focused organizations
WOLFEBORO — Local watercolor artist Dr. Marc Bard will once again be hosting the Paintings for a Purpose Art Show this summer with all of the proceeds from the sale of artwork going to local nonprofit organizations. Dr. Bard will be joined by colleague, Dr. John Ingard, whose wildlife photography will also be included in the 2024 show.
