    36-year-old man dead in Jefferson County shooting

    CENTER POINT, Ala. ( WIAT ) — A 36-year-old man was found fatally shot in Center Point on Saturday evening.

    According to public information officer Henry Irby of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 6:54 p.m. to the 400 block of 16th Court NW on report of a person down. Deputies saw a man at the scene suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

    Sheriff’s offices across Alabama look to add more women to their ranks

    Center Point Fire District personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Irby didn’t disclose the victim’s name.

    No one has been arrested in connection to the homicide investigation. Those who have information on the case are urged to call the JCSO at 205-325-1450, option 2, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
