South Loup and Anselmo-Merna Play in Boys District Final Basketball Tonight
South Loup will host Plainview tonight in Callaway for the D1-8 boys district basketball championship. South Loup is 16-5 on the season and qualified for the district final round as a wildcard. Plainview is 16-7 and qualified for the district finals as the D1-6 sub district champion with wins over Winside and Wausa. Tonight’s game will be broadcast on KBBN 95.3 FM and kbbn.com. A live video stream of the game, accompanied by the radio call, will also be available through sandhillsexpress.com on the Sandhills Express Facebook page and Sandhills Express You Tube channel. Tip off is scheduled for 6 p.m. The winner advances to the Class D1 boys state tournament which begins March 7th in Lincoln.

Wilcox-Hildreth’s girls fell one win short of a second straight state tournament entry as Plainview vanquished the Falcons 50-38 in the district final on February 23 played at Central City. The fine season for Wil-Hil winds up at 16-10 and with no seniors on the roster the Falcons could very well make another postseason run in ‘24-’25.

BLOOMFIELD, Neb. (KOLN) - Court records have provided additional details of a double-murder in Bloomfield, Nebraska in the days, weeks and moments leading up to the killings. Alias Reed, 25, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony. His wife, 27-year-old Kaylyne Sweazy, faces a single count of tampering with evidence. If convicted, Reed could face the death penalty and Sweazy would face one to 50 years in prison.
