Annual event coming to Peek Park on April 27-28

The Cedartown Junior Service league will be ready to take over Peek Park next weekend for their big annual event, and are going to be sharing the spotlight with a new installation as well.

Alongside the 59th annual Cedar Valley Arts Festival run by the CJSL as one of their main annual fundraisers, the event is going to also to host the ribbon cutting for the new Peek Park Playground.

The annual arts festival kicks off next weekend with the 5K/10K Road Race (signups are still underway here) and continues from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the annual Car Show running from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

…And get set for the 2024 CVAF 5K/10K Run – the 25th year of the race around the College Street neighborhood to open the festival fun.

Racers are being asked to get there before the 8 a.m. start to the event, with registration available here on Runsignup.com. It’s $30 per runner for the 5K, and $35 for the 10K.

Proceeds from the race go to benefit the Cedartown Junior Service League Endorsed Projects as well as  Local high school scholarships (including for Cedartown and Rockmart High Schools.)

Race-day fees increase by $10 for signing up just before the 8 a.m. starting gun fires.

Awards will be given out at 9:30 a.m.

It’s a rain or shine race, for those wondering whether the weather will call it off.

Vendors aplenty

Expect some regular favorites like Speakcheesy and Rudy’s to be on hand, but patrons of the festival will also get to enjoy a variety of savory and sweet snacks ranging from pork skins to pralines for this year’s event.
