Which NY school districts saw biggest improvements in graduation rates in 2023?
A total of 34 New York school districts out of more than 660 statewide saw graduation rates improve by double digits between 2022 and 2023, according to state data. The district with the biggest percentage point gain in graduation rate in 2023 was West Valley in Cattaraugus County. The graduation rate there increased 30 points from 70% in 2022 to 100% in 2023.

Utica man sentenced on federal fentanyl charges
SYRACUSE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — A Utica man learned his fate in federal court on Wednesday, May 1 after pleading guilty to fentanyl possession charges. 38-year-old Eric Ares of Utica was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for consipiring to possess and distribute fentanyl on Wednesday, according to United States Attorney Carla Freedman. Ares pled guilty in an earlier appearance in the Syracuse Federal Court.
