Breckenridge losing streak hits 18 after setback vs. Sargent County
The Breckenridge Cowboys lost their 18th straight game Saturday at the NDSCS Boys Basketball Bonanza, falling 57-34 to the Sargent County Bulldogs. Breckenridge is now 2-20 overall with four regular season games remaining in Minnesota State High School League play. Sargent County is 14-5 entering North Dakota’s Division “B” postseason, which begins Friday.

Britton-Hecla’s gymnastics team saved its best for last. The Lady Braves scored a season-high 134.794 points that included six personal bests and finished fourth in the Class A state meet held in Pierre on Friday. ORLANDO, FL (NDSA) – Bartholomay Kattle Kompany of Sheldon, N.D., was honored as the regional winner of the 2023 Environmental Stewardship Award Program (ESAP). The Ransom County, N.D., cattle producers were recognized by the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) earlier this month at the Cattle Industry Convention in Orlando, Fla. They were nominated for the award by the North Dakota Stockmen’s Association (NDSA).

Britton native Michelle (Johnson) Haaland has been honored by the South Dakota Gymnastics Coaches Association (SDGCA) with the Judges Leadership Award. Haaland served as a judge at the state gymnastics meet held in Pierre last weekend and was recognized at the event. She currently lives in Aberdeen with her husband, Kyle, and two children – Gauge and Reese – and works as an outpatienmt physical therapist at The Avera Therapy Center.

Wahpeton, ND (NewsDakota.com) – The Oakes Tornadoes couldn’t get much going against the Sargent County Bulldogs falling 50-32 in the District 1 Semifinals. In the first half the Bulldogs built a huge lead of 28-8 as the Tornadoes couldn’t solve the defense as they only went 1/15 from the field as they didn’t get their first field goal till the end of the half with a Kassidy Jackson buzzer beater. Lisbon Takes 2024 Class B East Region Wrestling Title
Carrington, N.D. (NewsDakota.com)—The Lisbon Broncos won the 2024 Class B East Region tournament with 247 team points and crowned 5 individual champions. South Border finished in second place with 237 points and crowned 3 champions and Northern Lights finished in third place with 194.5 points and also had 3 individual champions. Oakes (149.5) and Carrington (149) rounded out the top five teams and Carrington added 1 champion and Grafton added the final champion. Seventeen teams competed in the tournament.

Commission Remembers Jones
At the Tuesday meeting of the Marshall County Commissioners, the board took time to remember the recently passed Kevin Jones. Jones, who had served as the district 3 commissioner since 2019, died last weekend. He was the sitting vice chairman for the group. The board thanked Jones for his service to Marshall County and sent condolences to his family.
