‘A godsend’: Brunswick Community College to expand nursing program
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) - Brunswick County will soon see a boost in nurses for area hospitals thanks to a grant from the North Carolina Community College System. BCC was awarded $398,604 in funding as part of a High-Cost Healthcare Workforce Expansion grant, allowing more students to enroll in their nursing program.
Carolina Beach doctor charged with indecent liberties with a child
A Carolina Beach doctor has been charged with indecent liberties with a child and sexual offense in the first degree. Damian Alexander Brezinski, 61, was arrested on Friday, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office inmate search. Brezinski was employed as a cardiologist at Island Cardiology in Carolina Beach.

Alligator spotted in Caswell Beach; residents asked to contact officials if they spot it
CASWELL BEACH, N.C. (WECT) - An alligator was spotted on Caswell Beach Monday and Tuesday morning, according to the Town of Caswell Beach. “Yesterday, town administration requested that police notify the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) because our officers are not authorized, trained, and equipped to handle dangerous wildlife. Again, if the alligator is spotted, please keep your distance and urge others to do the same as well,” a town announcement states.
