Sudden sinkhole disrupts Wenatchee traffic at Fifth and Miller streets
WENATCHEE — The city of Wenatchee is coping with a sinkhole, reported today at the intersection of Fifth and Miller Streets in the westbound lanes. When Public Works officials investigated the report, they found a sinkhole approximately six feet deep and large enough for a car to fall into, according to an email notification from the city. Urban sinkholes can form when water pipes below street level become degraded and give way.

Columbia Elementary School plans to shut their doors after financial woes
WENATCHEE, Wash. — The Wenatchee School District plans to close Columbia Elementary after financial woes. This decision will eliminate more than 60 positions, including teachers across the district. According to the district, this decision comes from the decline in enrollment, which has been going down since 2015. As a result, it plans to cut $9 million from the budget.
