Nampa food trucks could face new opening-time restrictions
NAMPA, Idaho — A proposed change to Nampa's city code could restrict when food trucks are allowed to open, and owners said it could put their early morning business at risk. At The Perking Spot in Nampa, customers are already pulling up well before 9 a.m. But a proposed opening-time restriction could affect those early orders.

This Boise bar is always moving. But now it's opening a permanent Meridian lounge
A Boise bar that's been on the move for nearly a decade has finally found a home, sweet home. If all goes according to plan, Meridian customers will be sipping cocktails at the new lounge a few months from now. Mobile bar service Idaho Tipsy Trailers plans to open a permanent brick-and-mortar location at 1630 S. Eagle Road, near the intersection with Overland Road. The small lounge, called Hitch & House, will be in the same building as the soon-to-open Rev Collective coffee shop and market. The target opening month is January. “This is going to basically be our home,” Idaho Tipsy Trailers owner Lindsey Thurow said. “That’s where ‘House’ comes from. And ‘Hitch,’ obviously, from the trailers.” Serving at weddings, corporate functions and other events, Idaho Tipsy Trailers has the option of a converted horse trailer, a converted camper trailer, three satellite bars, a beverage cart or a “sip station.” Thurow pulls an alcohol catering permit for each event, using a third-party bar’s liquor license. (Idaho Tipsy Trailers currently operates through the license of O’Michael’s Pub & Grill in Boise.) With its own license, Hitch & House will serve as both a local bar in Meridian and as a

This Idaho Museum Has A Two-Headed Calf And Turns A Quick Stop Into Three Hours
A real two-headed calf named Deja-Moo is one of the strangest treasures in Idaho. Yes, the name is a pun, and yes, it’s perfect. The calf was born in Gooding in 1950 and joined a state history collection the very next year. Decades later, it still stops people in their tracks on the way to everything else.

Young Idaho dance director brings Mexican history to life
NAMPA — As Hispanic Heritage Month came to a close Oct. 15, Ballet Folklórico Yareth de Idaho’s founder and director, Marifer Avila, shared how she uses traditional Mexican folkloric dance to tell a bigger story and honor the generations of dancers who came before her. Ballet folklórico refers to traditional cultural dances that capture folk culture and ballet characteristics from different regions in Mexico and Central America. During Mexico’s colonial period, various states and regions had unique folklórico dances that blended Indigenous and Spanish cultures and other European and African influences. Ballet Folklórico de México was created in 1952 by dancer and choreographer Amalia Hernández who — inspired by Mexico’s history and traditional folk and modern dance — revolutionized the concept of traditional dances and classic ballet by interpreting local, political and interpersonal folklore in a theatrical element that transformed the country’s cultural identity . Avila, 23, uses her ballet folklórico group of 33 students and passion for dance to express the historical significance behind each step taken, the attire worn and the stories each song and dance is meant to tell. “This is someone’s history; this is someone’s culture,” Avila said she reminds her dancers. “I just see it

False start for Dunkin’: Proposal for first local location pulled over grease concern
Dunkin’ won’t enter the Treasure Valley with a location at the Northgate Shopping Center on State St. after all. The donut and coffee chain is looking to add as many as 20 locations across the Boise area, according to two commercial real estate firms. As BoiseDev reported last month, Ethos Architecture Group applied to the City of Boise to convert a current Papa Murphy’s store at 6940 W. State St. near Glenwood into a new donut shop location.

What Will Steelhead Fishing Look Like on the Boise River This Fall?
With the 2026 fall steelhead return shaping up to be one of the lowest returns on record, this fall's outlook has not been promising. In mid-September, Fish and Game reduced statewide steelhead bag limits as a conservation measure to reduce impacts to natural-origin spawners and ensure hatchery broodstock objectives were met. If you're a Treasure Valley angler, you might be wondering what all this bad news might mean for stocking steelhead in the Boise River this fall.
