Back Door Front Slashes Rain Chances in Charlotte and the Carolinas, Leaving Chilly Drizzle and 50s for the Panthers Game While Lawns Miss Out on Needed Rain
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA — It is a big weather shift across the Carolinas on Sunday, October 4. A back door cold front has pushed far enough south to seriously cut down rain chances, by half or even three-quarters, across Charlotte and much of the Piedmont. Instead of a soaking rain, this afternoon looks mostly like mist and drizzle, with skies staying cloudy and temperatures hanging in the 50s and 60s. That is good news for anyone heading to the Carolina Panthers game, but bad news for dry lawns that were counting on a good drink of water.

Some areas will see expected rainfall totals cut in half, while others may get very little additional rain at all. One last surge of showers is possible later this evening, but most of the region should stay dry Sunday. Cooler air pushing in from the northeast is also making temperatures noticeably cooler underneath the wedge.
