South Reno Starbucks among 250 locations closing nationwide
Starbucks' latest round of nationwide store closures is hitting Reno, where one location is shutting down. The Starbucks at 470 South Meadows Parkway will close for good at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, an employee confirmed with the Reno Gazette Journal. A sign posted on the door Friday informed customers about the closure: “We’ve made the very difficult decision to close this Starbucks store by the end of this week.” The Reno store's closure is one of 250 nationwide that Starbucks announced this week, according to the employee. It is across the street from another, more established Starbucks location, which factored into the decision. The location is one of the company’s newer stores, opening just last year . The site was previously a Steak ‘n Shake restaurant . The latest round of closures was announced Thursday in a letter to employees. “We have carefully reviewed our North America coffeehouse portfolio and identified locations where we do not believe we can consistently deliver the experience we want for customers and partners or where we don’t see a path to acceptable financial performance,” wrote Mike Grams, chief operating officer. “As a result, we will close approximately 250 coffeehouses later this week.” The
