Sulphur church breaks ground on new buildings
SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A church in Sulphur took a big step toward recovery after its fellowship hall and educational buildings were destroyed in hurricanes Laura and Delta. Maplewood United Methodist Church broke ground on a new family life center and education building today. With prayer led by the Rev. James B. Moore, members of the church celebrated the start of a new chapter of bringing fellowship back to the community.

Calcasieu School Board approves delayed start plan for future weather events
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - The Calcasieu Parish School Board is implementing a plan to start a school day late in case of a weather threat during the normal start time. The school board approved the plan at Tuesday night’s special meeting called to discuss the response to the severe thunderstorms on the morning of April 10. Many bus drivers, parents and students raised concerns that Calcasieu was the only SWLA parish to hold school despite the known threat, putting buses on the road during active tornado warnings.

Sulphur Public Schools Receives Offers Of Help
Sulphur Public Schools is receiving offers of help following this past weekend's tornado. Officials say a tornado left the school bus fleet damaged and buildings unusable. District officials say more than 200 other districts have offered help including the Davis Public Schools, who loaned a couple of buses for a track meet. Classes in Sulphur are cancelled again today.
