Whitehall bear cub freed after jar gets stuck on its head
WHITEHALL, Mont. — A black bear cub near Whitehall is back in the wild after Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 3 helped remove a plastic jar stuck on its head. In a Facebook post, the agency said game wardens and a bear specialist caught the cub, cut the jar off and released it soon after. FWP said the cub was not hurt. The post also served as a reminder that wildlife often pass through places where people live. FWP said putting away trash and other items that can trap animals can help keep them out of trouble. The agency said animals with antlers can get caught in baling twine, holiday lights, lawn furniture, tarps, clotheslines, hammocks and similar items. More bear safety information is available from Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. FWP said people should contact the agency as soon as possible when an animal gets stuck or tangled.
