The couple say they wanted a Christian experience for their son that they can't get in public schools. They enrolled him at Heritage Preschool in Homewood in 2021 when he was two months old. Their eldest son had a good experience and graduated from the school. They say after leadership changes, their experience last year was not the same.
‘Birmingham Batman’ mural created in Southside
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) - A mural of a Birmingham legend, Willie Perry, gets some finishing touches this week. Birmingham’s Batman, as he was lovingly nicknamed, died in 1985. The mural depicts Perry and his “rescue ship,” a 1971 Ford Thunderbird with flashing lights and custom fenders. Perry came to the rescue on many roadside emergencies.

Alabama police have detained six people in connection with the kidnapping and shooting death of Mahogany Jackson, a young mom who messaged her family that she was being held hostage before she was killed, AL.com reports. One of those being held is the 26-year-old woman who answered the door at the house where Jackson, 20, said she was being held captive; the woman claimed Jackson had left at 2 a.m. the night before. “I know that’s not true because she sent that message and her location at 7:46 a.m.,’’ her mother, Gail Maddox, told AL.com. A passerby discovered Jackson’s body under a mattress dumped on a Birmingham roadside on Monday, ahead of a planned search.
