Burlington man charged in child luring sting
HARTFORD, Vt. (WCAX) - A Burlington man faces child luring charges following a sting operation by Hartford Police. Police say Robert Charbonneau, 50, contacted a Hartford investigator online in October 2023 who was posing as a 14-year-old girl from Vermont. They say he allegedly engaged in conversations of an increasingly sexual nature and sent explicit images of himself.
Collaboration, lighting and aesthetic: What makes a creative space?
Whether in music, visual art or writing, it’s hard to deny that environment plays a pivotal role in creating art. If there’s anything I miss from freshman year, it’s the setup of my beloved room in North Fayerweather Hall. It pains me to say that my dark, carpeted room in Topliff Hall does not have the same creative effect on me as North Faye, with its spacious layout and wood flooring. Although spaces like the Tower Room and Sanborn Library evoke that same essence, I deeply miss the privacy from freshman year that allowed me to write my music out loud.
‘A redefinition of civil disobedience’: Dartmouth’s crackdown with riot police was far worse than the protest
Jeff Sharlet, a Dartmouth professor, on how the college ‘swatted themselves’ sending in special response police unit to arrest pro-Palestinian protesters. Dartmouth College, with about 6,700 students, is the smallest of the eight schools in the Ivy League, and one of the most geographically remote. Growing up nearby, it was guaranteed I’d run into someone I knew crossing Dartmouth Green, the central campus lawn in Hanover, New Hampshire.

New Hampshire author channels grief and honors her mom in one-woman play 'Keeping It Inn'
New Hampshire author, educator and comic story teller Cindy Pierce likes honesty and, when possible, a healthy splash of humor. So when her 93-year-old mother died in 2019, Pierce channeled her grief into a one-woman show intended to honor her mother's life and resonate with others caring for aging parents.
Letter to the Editor: Thank You President Beilock, Provost Kotz and Dean Brown
I was coincidentally in Hanover on the evening of May 1, and I walked around the Green and observed the commotion. As an alumnus, I was deeply disappointed by the behavior of the protesters. I saw the police acting politely and appropriately. I would guess that the silent majority of students and alumni support College President Sian Leah Beilock’s efforts to encourage dialogue and preserve the rights of all those in the community. Freedom of speech is a right, but being a part of the Dartmouth community is a privilege. When students and faculty do not want to engage in civil discourse and believe they are entitled to disrupt others, then they rightly risk losing their privilege to be a part of Dartmouth.
