    Track and field: Cameron's Kuffel, Pearson, Schmidt earn multiple wins at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser meet

    Lauren Pearson won four individual titles, and Lexi Kuffel and Inez Schmidt each won three times for the Cameron girls track and field team as the Comets won the Knickerbocker Invitational at Chetek-Weyerhaeuser on Tuesday.

    The Cameron boys also placed first, led by a pair of relay wins and a top finish by Jax Manor in the triple jump.

    Pearson high jumped 5 feet, 2 inches and long jumped 16-10 for two of her wins. She took the win in the 300-meter hurdles in 51.02 seconds and the 200 in 27.6. Kuffel won the 100 in 13.08, the 400 in 1:00.12 and the 800 in 2:29.26, and Schmidt finished the 1,600 in a winning time of 5:46.38 and the 3,200 in 12:22. She also cleared 8 feet for first in the pole vault.

    Cameron also had its 400 relay of Kira Cook, Cora Romsos, Maddie Severt and Jordyn Lundequam take first in 54.52. Led by its 11 first-place finishes the Comets more than doubled (218 to 105) runner-up Chetek-Weyerhaeuser in the team standings.

    The Comet girls also had a number of runners-up individual finishes. Mohns was second to Kuffel in the 400 with a time of 1:02.46, while Baribeau was only behind Kuffel for the 800, finishing in 2:42.02. In the high jump, finishing behind Pearson was Cyleigh Cherney with a height of 4-10. In second to Pearson for the long jump with a distance of 15-8 was Katie Shilts. Shilts was also runner-up at 31-10.75 for the triple jump. Hailey Hince finished second to Schmidt by clearing 7-6 for the pole vault.

    In a time of 1:57.66 the Cameron 800 relay of Shilts, Cook, Kendal Robel and Romsos was second. Cameron had third-place finishes from Cook in the triple jump, Shilts in the 300 hurdles and from its 1,600 relay of Severt, Izzy Harder, Mohns and Baribeau.

    The Cameron boys 400 relay of Aiden Golat, Julien Foster, Manor and Cole Peterson won their race in 46.96, while Colt Mikolon, Mike Gronski, Kobe Koenig and Manor won the 800 relay in 1:42.83. Manor won the triple jump with a top leap of 39-11.

    Runner-up in the 800 was Preston Eldred, who finished in 2:24.58. Caden Anderson placed third in the 100, 200 and 400, while also in third was the 3,200 relay of Channing Erickson, Brett Mikolon, Bruno Palacious and Jaden Reed.

    The Cameron boys team score of 141 placed them first, four points in front of Chetek-Weyerhaeuser.
