MADISON - Waupun Warriors' star sophomore pitcher Addison Braun encountered a small hiccup while facing her first batter of the 2024 Divison 2 State championship game in Madison Saturday. Mosinee sophomore shortstop and leadoff hitter Taelyn Jirschele reached base on an error, stole second and later came around to score the first run of the game on a wild throw, but otherwise, Braun managed to escape the first inning relatively unscathed, down in a 1-0 hole. ...
WIS-89 construction on-target for June 19 completion
WATERLOO — The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is on schedule to complete its Highway 89 resurfacing project on schedule. WIS-89 has been closed between Waterloo and Columbus for the project since it began April 8. Pending another week of good weather, the highway is expected to re-open Tuesday or Wednesday, according to WisDOT’s 511 site for project updates. During the course of construction, vehicles have been routed from Waterloo through Marshall on WIS-19 and then north to Columbus on WIS-73. The total cost of the project was initially slated for $2.7 million in state funding.
LCWM falls to Randolph in the Class AA state championship game
NORTH MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) - The Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Knights softball team took on the Randolph Rockets in the Class AA state championship game. Randolph took a 2-0 lead in the 3rd inning and would score another run in the top of the 7th to make it a 3-0 game.
June Dairy Days will honor Waldvogel
For years, Rose Waldvogel organized a 4-H Pie Social during Markesan’s annual June Dairy Days. “The pie social was a real point of pride for her, and from what I understand, she was sad to see it go when the group decided that attendance was too low to continue,” Markesan Chamber of Commerce President Amy Kennedy said, noting Waldvogel was a leader of 4-H for more than 34 years.
