Roanoke city council approves budget, new school funding formula
ROANOKE, Va. – Roanoke city council voted to approve the city’s budget on Monday. The budget’s general fund comes in at nearly $380 million. A little over $28 million will go to fire and emergency management, a little over $31 million will go to police, and almost $8 million will go to parks and recreation.

Roanoke gas prices rise slightly in the last week
ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ/GasBuddy Release) - Average gasoline prices in Roanoke have risen 1.6 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.38 per gallon Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 155 stations in Roanoke. Prices in Roanoke are 5.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 14.2 cents per gallon higher than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has fallen 4.6 cents in the last week and stands at $3.90 per gallon.
