E.C. Library Has Hiking Backpack Kits Available for Check Out
EL CENTRO — The El Centro Public Library is offering hiking backpack kits and new travel books available for check out for novice to intermediate hikers and travelers. The Southern California Library Cooperative grant provided 21 backpacks that can be checked out for up to three weeks at a time. A patron is able to check out a park pass along with the backpack, good for hiking at state parks. The library also added new books on hiking and dozens of travel books to places near El Centro, like San Diego and as far as Europe.

During the Imperial Valley Healthcare District meeting held on March 11, the Kaufman Hall feasibility study was reviewed and discussed. One of the participants via Zoom was Patty Maysent, CEO for UCSD Health and a current member of the El Centro Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. While Maysent had some pertinent information to share, one comment in particular caught my attention. Maysent strongly stated that UCSD had only managed ECRMC since 2022. That did not sound right, so a bit of research was needed. I reviewed the ECRMC agendas and minutes going back to 2015. Here is what I found.
