MSP: 1 killed, 1 injured in crash near Caledonia

CALEDONIA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Authorities say one person was killed and another was flown to the hospital after a crash near Caledonia.

Michigan State Police said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of Cherry Valley Avenue and 100th Street in Caledonia Township.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek an alternative route as authorities investigate and work to clear the scene.

Investigators said it appeared a semi-truck was heading northbound on Cherry Valley when a car crossed the centerline and struck the semi.

State police said the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger was flown to the hospital in critical condition.

The semi-truck driver was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
