Proposed Wyoming community center gets special use approval from planning commission
WYOMING, MI – The Wyoming Planning Commission unanimously approved a special land use request for a proposed community center on Tuesday, May 21. Tonya Elias requested the special use for her building, located at 2890 Madison Ave. SE, to operate a community center for teenagers, ages 15 to 19, and their families engaged with the juvenile court system in Kent County.
Has Heart won't press charges after attempted break-in
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The owners of Has Heart are using an attempted break-in at the veteran-run business as an opportunity to lend a hand to someone in need. A man allegedly tried to break into the Grand Rapids Civic Theater late Monday night. He targeted Has Heart several doors down after attempts proved unsuccessful. In doing so, he smashed a window. A bystander who heard what was going on leaped into action and detained him until officers place him under arrest.

Parents accused of torturing adopted children to appear in court
WYOMING, Mich. — Two Wyoming parents who are facing abuse charges involving their adopted children are due to appear in court Tuesday. Kris and Alan Jones, of Wyoming, each face three counts of torture and three counts of child abuse. Torture is a felony in Michigan and carries a maximum life sentence if convicted.
