Emporia Public Library nears end of Summer Reading Program with pool party Sunday
The Emporia Public Library is transitioning from summer to fall activities, but not before making a splash in the process. The library has its annual Summer Pool Party at the Jones Aquatic Center from 6:30-8 pm Sunday. On KVOE’s Morning Show this week, Director Pauline Stacchini reminded parents to have their children turn in their reading minutes — and not just for the pool party.
Unemployment rates up across the region for June
Jul. 24—Unemployment rates in the region and the state went up again in June, according to preliminary reports from the Kansas Department of Labor. In Riley County, the unemployment rate reached 4% in June after it was at 3% in May. Geary County saw a jump from 4.2% in May to 5% in June. Pottawatomie County rose from 2.6% in May to 3.3% in June, and Wabaunsee County's rate increased slightly ...
