South Dakota State Unveiled as Narrow Favorite to Win FCS Title
We're one month away from Week 0 of the College Football season, and with the proximity to the season comes preseason award watch lists, all-conference teams, and odds. We learned earlier that this week that media members and coaches within the MVFC view South Dakota State as the favorite to win the conference, but the Jacks are also getting plenty of love from Vegas to win it all for a third straight season.
SD team ties for 2nd at 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships
South Dakota’s team tied for second place for the sweepstakes award at the 2024 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships. Thirty-five youth representing SDSU Extension 4-H competed at the national championships from June 24-28 in Grand Island, Nebraska. The annual competition drew 708 youth from 40 states to demonstrate their abilities in archery and shooting across multiple disciplines.

TWO GOLFERS NAMED ALL-AMERICA SCHOLARS
South Dakota State golfers Bryson Mercier and Luke Honner were named 2023-24 NCAA Division I Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars Wednesday. To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 (in NCAA Division I), and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Bullets score 15 runs in Game 1, split doubleheader in Yankton
YANKTON – The Brookings Bullets 16U baseball team split a doubleheader against the Yankton Blacksox on Tuesday night. The Bullets won the first game 15-10 and lost the second game 12-3. The Bullets are now 4-30-1 on the year and will have a doubleheader at Renner beginning Sunday at noon.
PREP FOR 2024 SEASON NEARS FOR JACKRABBITS
The South Dakota State soccer program found a way through a variety of trials during the 2023 season to continue its recent success among its Summit League foes. The 2024 team hopes to find itself in a similar position when November rolls around and conference title and NCAA Tournament berths are on the line.
Bombers Black sweeps Yankton at Bob Shelden
BROOKINGS – The Brookings Bombers Black 14U team improved 38-8 on the season after sweeping a doubleheader against Yankton on Wednesday night at Bob Shelden Field. Brookings won the first game 10-1 and followed that with a 7-3 victory in game two. The Bombers will close out the regular season on Friday night in Watertown with another doubleheader that starts at 5 p.m. They will then play in the State Tournament in Sioux Falls Aug. 1-4.
