The D2-7 all district football teams have been released. Among the teams from the KCNI/KBBN coverage who competed in the district were Twin Loup, Burwell, and Ansley/Litchfield. Twin Loup placed five players on the all district first team. Representing the Wolves with first team honors were Quincy Ryker (RB), Mace Beran (OL), Waylon McBride (DL), Cazen Smith (LB), and Garrett Keith (LB). Ansley/Litchfield placed three players on the all district first team. Luke Bailey (WR), Zach Loy (QB), and Ashton Behmerwold (LB). Wryder Svoboda (WR) of Burwell was also a first team selection. One arraignment was heard in Custer County District Court on Thursday. Mark Koch, age 61 of Sargent, entered a not guilty plea to two alleged charges. Count one, abuse of a vulnerable adult (class IIIA felony), carries no minimum charge and a maximum charge of three years imprisonment, a $10,000 fine, or both. Burwell woman gets 2 years probation for driving car into bait shop
BURWELL, Neb. (KSNB) - On Thursday, a Garfield County judge sentenced a Burwell woman convicted of crashing in to a bait shop this spring. The judge sentenced Tammy Melling, 43, to two years probation, one year suspended driver’s license, as well as a suspended sentence of 90 days in jail if she doesn’t meet the terms of her probation. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the owner of Dad’s Calamus East bait shop.
