Mitchell boys golf wins 1A NCHSAA championship behind Connor Warren's third individual title
Not even a rain-shortened second round could slow down Mitchell senior Connor Warren’s quest for a third consecutive 1A boys golf individual title. Warren shot a 1-over-par 107 in the 27-hole tournament at 7 Lakes Golf Club in West End for his title and Mitchell won the state championship Tuesday for the second season in a row.
Pottery club honors longtime members
The Erwin National Blue Ridge Pottery Club held its first meeting of 2024 on Monday, April 1. The meeting featured an Easter theme. The club used the occasion of the first meeting of the year to pay tribute to some longtime members who have been unable to attend due to health or other issues. Since that meeting, longtime member Glenna Lewis died on April 9.
Berries at Scott's Farms ripening in time for annual festival
“What we strive for is a better strawberry. The riper they are, the better they are,” said Steve Scott, owner of Scott’s Farms in Unicoi. Scott said that the strawberry crop this year looks good and fresh berries are now available at area stands and at the Scott’s Farm Market in Limestone Cove.
