Burlington, Vt – Eclipse crowds are sizing up in the Queen City. As people get ready for the once in a lifetime event, the Echo Leahy Center is breaking down the ‘how and why’ behind the total solar eclipse.

Chris Dwyer, Public Program Specialist at the Center, says preparations for this event have been years in the making.

“Truly ever since winter we’ve been focusing just on the eclipse,” says Dwyer, “We have a bunch of places where people can physically use models and other things to create eclipses, enabling people to get their hands on the science so it’s not some abstraction they can’t quite grasp.”

The center was jam-packed Sunday, with kids and adults alike enjoying the hands-on, eclipse themed activities and exhibits.

Dwyer says anywhere upwards of 1,000 guests is a busy day for the center, and they reached that number Sunday.

While day-of eclipse viewing tickets at the Echo Leahy Center are limited, there’s still a chance to get in on the fun – Dwyer says they’ll have tents with activities set up outside on Monday, so those who weren’t able to get into Echo can still experience it.
