Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - State Senator Sean Ryan has secured $80 million in the state's new budget to fund two proof-of-concept pilot programs based on his "City of Good Neighbors" affordable housing plan. The goal of the program is to build new one and two family homes in Buffalo and across the state. Landlords will also be able to apply for grants to renovate existing apartment buildings.

The Cheektowaga Historical Association has purchased a 144-year-old nursing home at 3350 Broadway for $250,000, per Buffalo Business First. The Association hopes to move an existing museum that preserves Cheektowaga's history into the new space. The building is 20,000 square feet.

Gas prices rose significantly since last Monday, up 12 cents at $3.56 per gallon in Buffalo. According to AAA, the continued switch to summer blend and increased tension in the Middle East is causing the price increase.
