I-35 Flyover Closures Planned for Multiple Nights
Drivers in South Austin should prepare for several nights of closures and delays along I-35 and SH 71 as crews continue work on the I-35 Capital Express project. The eastbound and westbound SH 71 flyovers to northbound I-35 will be closed overnight Sunday, Aug. 16, and Monday, Aug. 17. The closures begin at 9 p.m. each night, with the flyovers reopening by 6 a.m. the following morning.

A long-awaited stretch of road connecting East Austin neighborhoods to Samsung's sprawling chip manufacturing campus has officially opened, giving families near Pioneer Crossing Elementary School a new way to walk, bike and drive without funneling onto congested East Parmer Lane.
