RADFORD, Va. – As students across Southwest Virginia return to school, transportation officials are reminding drivers to slow down and pay attention around school buses. Flix Bus service launches with stops in Roanoke, Lynchburg
ROANOKE & LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Flix Bus service launched with a couple stops across our hometowns, starting Friday, August 7, 2026, according to the travel-tech company. The intercity bus company announced new stops will be in Roanoke, Lynchburg and Charlottesville; it also said it will connect central and western Virginia to the Northeast corridor and the Carolinas.

Speed Safety Program: Warning Period Begins
a 30-day warning period will go into effect in the school zones located at Gilbert Linkous Elementary School on Toms Creek Road, and Blacksburg Middle School on Prices Fork Road. Vehicles traveling 11 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit within the active school zone will receive a warning notice. The warning period will be active for 30 days, providing drivers with an opportunity to become familiar with the program areas and adjust their driving behavior. On September 9, 2026, the program will transition from warnings to full enforcement.
