Nonprofit teaching inner city kids how to swim
CLEVELAND — A nonprofit in Cleveland is teaching 4th graders from Cleveland Metropolitan School District the basics of water safety and how to swim. The free month-long pilot program is a vision come true for Lynne Nagy. She’s the founder of AquaMissions, a nonprofit founded to save and change lives through introductory water experiences, water safety instruction, and swim lessons for Greater Cleveland’s youth.
Cleveland Clinic receives $30K donation from Carter Nedley Foundation
The Carter Nedley Foundation has donated more than $30,000 to the Cleveland Clinic to assist children battling cancer by providing hospital rooms with gaming systems. The donation from the Mentor-based childhood cancer charity allows Cleveland Clinic to outfit all of the patient rooms in the inpatient cancer and bone-marrow transplant units, 20 in total, with Xbox Series X systems. The new systems will come loaded with games such as “LEGO Marvel Heroes,” “Minecraft” and “Madden NFL 24,” according to a news release.

CLEVELAND (WJW) — If you have Memorial Day activities, expect clouds, cooler temps, and breezy with highs in the mid 70s. Beach hazard and small craft advisories are in effect on Lake Erie through early Tuesday evening, due to wind activity expected to create rip currents. Man, 23, charged in shooting that injured 2 in Akron
Akron police have charged a 23-year-old man with two counts of felonious assault in connection with a Friday shooting in Akron that injured two. On Friday at about 7:35 p.m., police responded to a call in the 2000 block of Sixth Street S. W. When they arrived, they said they were met by the man, who had an unloaded handgun on the ground at his feet. The man told police he had a gun pulled on him, and he later shot two people to defend himself.
