UT Tyler School of Medicine joins state-wide Alzheimer’s research group
TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - The UT Tyler School of Medicine is the newest member of a collaborative Alzheimer’s research effort established by state law nearly 30 years ago. The School of Medicine was voted unanimously to become a member of the Texas Alzheimer’s Research and Care Consortium (TARCC), a state-funded group of institutions leading medical research on the disease. The group includes 11 medical institutions in Texas, UT Tyler School of Medicine being the only member in East Texas.

Tyler Civic Theatre announces new scholarship, recipients
Tyler Civic Theatre Center recently announced the newly established Phyllis Stratton Weiss Scholarships. Two scholarships are being awarded this year to college-bound graduating seniors who have exhibited outstanding volunteer service and participation at Tyler Civic Theatre. Their leadership skills, a strong work ethic and involvement in the community were also considered.
Kyle Lake Foundation awards scholarships to area students
Seven area students were awarded scholarships during the 18th annual Kyle Lake Memorial Golf Tournament that was held recently at The Cascades Golf & Country Club in Tyler. The scholarship was established in 2007 in memory of Kyle Lake, the 1990 captain of the Tyler Lee soccer team and the 1995 athletic director of The Brook Hill School sports camp. Lake is also the author of two books, Understanding God’s Will and (RE)Understanding Prayer.
