Alleged St. J fugitive reportedly caught
An alleged fugitive from St. Johnsbury is due in court Monday afternoon after reportedly getting caught Friday night. According to a Saturday morning email from the St. Johnsbury Police Department, officers were told just after 8:30 p.m. that a woman was lying in the roadway on River Road with a blanket covering her. Police responding to that call determined that she was Colleen Rodriguez, 34.

NEWPORT — Three Orleans County organizations have been awarded a total of $577,700 in grants from the Vermont Outdoor Recreation Economic Collabora tive (VOREC) Community Grant Program. These grants are part of a statewide investment of over $6 million into Vermont’s outdoor recreation economy, supporting 51 projects across the state.
St. Johnsbury man arrested on multiple warrants
ST. JOHNSBURY — Vermont State Police arrested a local man Tuesday afternoon on charges including being a fugitive from justice and having an outstanding instate warrant. Christopher Rivers, 35, of St. Johnsbury, was apprehended at a residence on Costa Avenue around 2 p.m. after troopers sought him for two active arrest warrants.

JOHNSON, Vt. (WCAX) - Johnson resident Leonard Prive has always loved nature and keeping things clean. He worked as a custodian for the Burlington School District for 39 years before retiring in 2015. During the early days of the pandemic, Prive decided to get off his couch and pick up trash along Routes 15, 100C and 100 between Underhill and Westfield. Over the last few years, he’s filled hundreds of bags with litter, which he leaves by the side of the road for the Vermont Agency of Transportation to collect.
