A tornado watch covers the Twin Cities metro and surrounding parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin until 9 p.m. today, Oct. 28, as storms strengthen across the region, according to the National Weather Service. The main threats are tornadoes, hail as large as ping pong balls and winds up to 70 mph. A watch means conditions are right for tornadoes to form. A warning means one has been spotted or detected on radar, and that is when you take cover immediately.

Metro Transit Police Department’s Homeless Action Team offers services to unsheltered individuals

Over 500 people have found permanent housing since the Metro Transit Police Department (MTPD) and the Metropolitan Council's Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) partnered to help those sheltering on transit. The first move-in facilitated by the partnership occurred on Feb. 6, 2019. This effort is spearheaded by MTPD’s Homeless Action Team (HAT), which has been working to help unsheltered individuals in the region since early 2018.
