    Arrest made in 7-month Orange County homicide investigation

    CRAWFORD, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — A Bronx man was charged with criminally negligent homicide in a seven-month-long homicide investigation in Orange County. Marcos Medina, 34, was arrested Thursday.

    On September 23, 2023, troopers responded to Route 17K near the intersection of Youngblood Road in Crawford for a crash with someone reportedly unconscious and not breathing. Police say Gerald Flicher, 64, from Bloomingburg, was the driver of a Toyota pickup truck and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    State Police say Medina was driving a box truck east on Route 17K when he crossed over into the opposite lane and struck Filcher’s car. After a seven-month investigation, Medina was arrested and charged with criminally negligent homicide.

    Medina was arraigned in the City of Middletown Court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Crawford Court on May 7.
