LOOKING BACK: Eugen Godet and Utica Day 1911 brought excitement to city
UTICA — The Boosters’ Club of Utica formed in mid-1911, and scheduled its first Utica Day Celebration for Sunday, Sept. 17, 1911. The events for the celebration included a grand parade and an aeroplane demonstration by pilot Eugene Ely. Due to inclement weather and a crash endured by Ely, the organizers pushed the festivities back a day to Monday, Sept. 18.

Wine In The Wilderness Returns for its 24th Year
UTICA, N.Y. -- The 24th Wine in the Wilderness took place at the Utica Zoo Saturday evening. Hundreds of Utica Zoo supporters, 21 and over, made their way to the zoo to try samples from a wide selection of New York State wineries. Boilermaker beer bill passes Assembly
ALBANY — Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-C, Marcy, has announced the Assembly’s passage of her bill to allow beer to be served at the Boilermaker post-race party. Every year, community members gather at the F.X. Matt Brewery to celebrate the Boilermaker, Utica’s largest event. Part of the celebration includes free beer for all attendees over the age of 21.
