An Interview with Bradley Moore
Where are you from and how’d you end up in eastern North Carolina?. I was born in Ohio, grew up in Maryland, and spent nearly 20 amazing years in Nashville. During Covid, while pursuing my master’s degree, I began exploring what new opportunities might be out there in the theatre world. Although I hadn’t planned on leaving Nashville, I realized that to do the kind of work I aspired to on a full-time basis, a move might be necessary. After a brief stop in the Charlotte area, I came across the Executive Director position at New Bern Civic Theatre. Something in my gut told me to take the leap, and I’m so grateful I did. Six months later, I’m truly glad to have landed in this beautiful place.

New Year's celebration another eggstatic success
The family-friendly local tradition of celebrating the new year a few hours early — with the drop of an egg — was once again a big hit in Nashville as Braswell Family Farms presented its third annual New Year’s Eve Egg Drop. Nashville police Chief Caleb Shockley said the event held on the grounds of Nashville Junction drew between 3,000 and 5,000 fun-loving but well-behaved visitors Wednesday afternoon. “This is a family-friendly event. We haven’t had any problems,” said Shockley. Nashville Town Councilman Larry Taylor, who was in attendance, concurred with Shockley. “It’s been great. Everybody is out here having fun,” said Taylor. The event started at 4 p.m. with live music, fun activities for the children, numerous food trucks serving a wide variety of cuisines and vendors hawking merchandise. Temperatures started out at 50 degrees Fahrenheit and dipped to 40 by the time the giant mechanical egg was lowered by a crane and the fireworks display got under way at 8 p.m. Winds on Wednesday made it feel much colder, but the nippy air didn’t keep revelers at bay for long. Numerous spectators of the egg drop sought the warmth of the Nashville Junction’s indoor shopping area. One young

Let the Horse Decide: Fuller’s Music Story
At a fork on a sandy road outside Bridgeton, a wagon creaked to a halt. George Reid Fuller Sr., with a pump organ in tow and a horse out front, loosened the reins and let fate—or rather, the horse—choose the way. Left meant Vanceboro; right meant Pamlico County. The horse stepped right, and by nightfall, George had found a kind farmer in Arapahoe who offered him a place to sleep. By morning, the farmer had purchased the organ. It was George’s first sale, and so began a New Bern institution.
