According to a poll, Scenic Sweats, conducted by a fitness group, Lift Vault, Branson area boasts one of the best outdoor excerise spots in the County. The poll 3,000 fitness enthusiasts were asked to vote on the best workout spots in the country. The mission of the poll was to identify the nation’s best outdoor workout destinations that offer more than just exercise - they promise an enhanced fitness experience through their natural beauty.These spots are more than just a place to exercise; they are destinations offering breathtaking views that elevate the fitness experience.
Branson proclaims May 28 Moe Bandy Day
A man known for bringing Americana to Branson was honored by the city with a day in his honor. Branson Mayor Larry Milton declared, during the Tuesday, May 28, 2024 meeting, May 28 would be “Moe Bandy Day” in the city of Branson.
SCDDB breaks ground on new building
The Stone County Developmental Disability Board broke ground on their new building on Friday, May 24. The new facility, which will be located at 449 Emerson Road in Reeds Spring, will be the home base for the SCDDB and their services.
Branson Memorial Day 2024
The annual Memorial Day Service at Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery took place at 11 a.m. under the supervision of Branson Veterans of America 913. The solemn ceremony featured a keynote address from Navy Rear Admiral (ret.) Hank Molinengo. He spoke in tribute of the men and women who gave their lives defending the country, but also challenged those attending the event to check on the veterans in their lives to see if they are struggling with their mental health, and to use the programs and outreaches available to help those they love if they are in need of mental health treatment.

The Merriam Woods Board of Aldermen held a special meeting Tuesday, May 21, to replace two personnel members that resigned recently. Building inspector Terry Danley and water clerk Sabrina Ogburn resigned from their positions Friday, May 17.
Historical Society hosts train exhibit opening
The importance of trains in the history of Stone County was the focus of a presentation hosted by the Stone County Historical/Genealogical Society on Saturday, May 11. The presentation was also a time to celebrate the grand opening of a new permanent exhibit. The Dry Gulch and Western Model Railroad exhibit is now housed in the museum’s event center, located at 117 Main Street in Crane.
