Stan Van Gundy Names NBA Team Facing 'Championship Or Bust'

It's 'championship or bust' for one team this year as the 2024 NBA Playoffs marches on.

That's what TNT commentator Stan Van Gundy said on Saturday evening as the Boston Celtics took on the Miami Heat in game-three of their first-round matchup.

And as you could have guessed, Van Gundy was referring to the Celtics, who entered the playoffs as the league's No. 1 overall seed.

After a dominant 64-18 regular season, led by two superstars in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, it's crunch time for Boston. Van Gundy was adamant in sayin it's 'championship or bust.'

"It's championship or bust, they got to the finals two years ago," Van Gundy said. "I don't say that in a bad way, it will still be a great season if you get to the conference finals or the finals. But in their minds, it is championship or bust."

And that's when Van Gundy dropped a all-time great quote:

"You'd rather carry the burden of expectations than not have enough talent to have a chance to win it."

The Celtics came close two years ago, making the NBA Finals but losing to the Golden State Warrior 4-2.

The Celtics beat Miami 104-84 in game three and took a 2-1 lead over the Heat, who knocked them out of the playoffs last year in game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals.
