Notice is hereby given that a public hearing on the budget for the Platte County Weed and Pest Control District for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, which is now being considered by the Platte County Weed and Pest Control District Board, will be held on the 14th day of May 2024 at six (6:00 p.m.) at the Platte County Weed and Pest Control District office, 506 Schroeder Dr, Wheatland, Wyoming. At 6:30 p.m., the Platte County Weed and Pest Control District Board will hold its regular board meeting to adopt the budget. Any and all interested persons may appear and be heard regarding such budget.

In addition to a multi-day sale of mares from the McCullough Peaks Herd Management Area, Wyomingites have opportunities to purchase animals in Wheatland and Riverton.
Wheatland FFA defends CDE sweepstakes title at state convention
CHEYENNE – The Wheatland FFA had another successful year at the Wyoming FFA State Convention, April 10 through 13. The chapter was a gold emblem chapter based on its Program of Activities and had nine state degree recipients. Finally, they successfully defended the CDE Sweepstakes title by claiming the award for the second year in a row. This award takes in the five best-finishing teams for a chapter, and whoever had the best finishes claims the prize.
Solid week for Wheatland golf
SCOTTSBLUFF, NEBRASKA – Last week the Wheatland boys’ golf team played some great golf at two awesome panhandle courses. On Monday the boys team played in the Scottsbluff Spring Invitational hosted at the Scottsbluff Country Club. The boys shot a team score of 323 and finished second out of 13 teams only behind host team Scottsbluff. The boys were led by Tate Nichols (77) who tied for seventh and Brecken Sandlian (78) who tied for ninth place. They were followed by Dylan Nelson and Matthew Wakkuri who both shot 84 and Cooper Meyer finished with a 95. Since Nebraska’s girls’ golf season is in the fall there were not any Wheatland girls competing.

UVA students re-create Beta Bridge memorial
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - After a secret society painted over a memorial for the three football players killed in a November 2022 shooting, students are banding together to re-create the memorial. A group of students re-painted the wall orange and put back up the message “Always in our hearts.”
