Starmount High School has announced that Josh Pardue has been selected as the new head football coach.

Pardue is a 2000 graduate of SHS and a member of the Rams’ 1998 1A State Champion team.

He will be the eighth head football coach in school history. It will be Pardue’s second stint as a head coach. Pardue took over the Walkertown program in 2015 after the Rams’ state championship run in 2014.

In his first season at the helm of Walkertown, Pardue led the Wolfpack to a 9-6 overall record and to the 1AA Western regional final. There, the Wolfpack fell to Mitchell in a close 27-23 game. In his three seasons as the head coach of the Wolfpack, Pardue had an overall mark of 16-23.

The Northwest NC native has also been a defensive coordinator at Millbrook High School in Raleigh under Clarence Inscore and a valuable assistant at Wilkes Central High School in Wilkesboro under Ron Turner. He was also a baseball coach during his time at Millbrook. He was based at Millbrook from 2007-2012 and went to Wilkes Central after departing Walkertown in 2018.

He is currently the Athletic Director at Elkin High School.
