Student stabbed, 2 other students arrested on campus of Appalachian State University

BOONE, N.C. ( QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A student was hospitalized and two people are in custody following a stabbing incident on the campus of Appalachian State University Thursday.

App State officials reported at 12:27 p.m. that a stabbing occurred just after 12 p.m. in the area of Peacock Hall. The suspects fled the area in a black Toyota convertible at that time.

Another person of interest wanted in connection to Jack in the Box homicide

Around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, officials reported that two suspects were in custody in reference to the afternoon stabbing. One of them was later identified as Emmet Cardwell, a 20-year-old App St. student from Durham. The other is also an App St. student but has not been charged yet.

App State authorities said the student was injured in the stabbing, and after being treated at the scene, was transported to Watauga Medical Center for further treatment.

There is no ongoing threat to campus and App State Police’s investigation remains ongoing.
